The Lock

First call for berth holders and visitors. The on-site café bar & bistro offers a relaxed vibe with stunning views over the marina. From great coffees hearty breakfasts to start your day, through to hearty meals including stone baked pizzas, pasta dishes, fish and chips and much more. Regular daily specials and not to be missed Sunday lunches.

Away from the marina there are two main areas for eating out.

North Shields Fish Quay

North Shields Fish Quay is where the bustle of the working fishing industry, fish market and stalls, combines with a lively mix of eateries and bars.

Along at the historic Fish Quay you can find everything from traditional fishermen’s pubs and fish & chips restaurants, to contemporary restaurant bars and  fine dining.  

Tynemouth Village

In contrast the Georgian splendour of Tynemouth’s Front Street offers a host of food and beverage venues in a beautiful coastal setting.

This cosy, intimate restaurant is situated on the historic  North Shields Fish Quay.  The Dodgin's Yard kitchen pride themselves on using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Their menus offer a wide range of fresh seafood all sourced from their own fishing trawler The Stella Maris, which operates out of Royal Quays Marina.

Just downstream from the marina at Smiths Dock, next to the ferry landing, 31 The Quay offers a fine dining experience with panoramic views of the Tyne and passing ships.

Not surprisingly from the name – it’s a seafood restaurant serving a varied seafood menu alongisde traditional fish and chips. Plus takeaway, weekend breakfasts, and tea and coffee at any time. Located in the centre of Tynemouth Village and close to the historic Tynemouth Priory and Castle.
