Help us swim 65 miles!

Project Planet Swimathon

Last summer Oly Rush swam the length of the Jurassic Coast to rasie funds and awareness for Clean Jurassic Coast and Oceans to Earth, both community interest companies trying to make a difference on beach litter locally and helping to clean up our stunning coastline.

On 22nd August, Oly is aiming to swim 65 miles around the Isle of Wight in under 24 hours and smash the current record of 26 hours. Roy Beal of Clean Jurassic Coast will be alongside him all the way providing kayak safety cover and encouragement!

During Portland Week, we want to help Oly raise even more awareness and funds for the charities, this time also including Turn The Tide Cornwall, by collectively swimming the same distance in 50m lengths in the marina basin. Book a slot and help us reach the distance! Better still, get your friends & family to sponsor you & help Oly reach his fundraising goal.

An environmental art project by Portland artist, Ian Dyke

Threatened Isle

The rugged and starkly beautiful Isle of Portland is the inspiration for Ian's latest exhibition, Threatened Isle.

In order to promote the important work of Plastic Free Portland and Surfers Against Sewage Ian uses the mythical sea god, Neptune, and the earth goddess, Gaia, to illustrate nature's response to to the destructive invasion of plastic in their precious worlds.   The exhibition features a series of dramatic and beautifully styled photographs, taken by media student Calum Kirkland, of Gaia and Neptune in location on Portland. A 3D piece further highlights the contrast between the natural and the man made with original paintings by Ian.

Ian's installation will be available for everyone to view daily throughout the week, times will vary depending on the activities hosted in the event marquee.
