Meet The Crew

Paul Swain

Marina Manager

Never seen out of shorts even in winter, ‘Swain Dawg’ can be found getting stuck into everything in the marina, even paperwork (sometimes!). We’re lucky to have such an enthusiastic and energetic skipper at the helm!

Bee Woodland

Assistant Marina Manager, Events, Marketing & Sustainability Champion

Bee joined us in June 2018, arriving in her Contessa 26. Now a land-based Portland resident, Bee comes equipped with a calm and friendly manner. When she’s not sailing, she can be found half-way up (or down) a cliff.

Nicky Turrell

Berthing Administrator & Office Manager

Nicky is the wonder woman who keeps the office and the team in order. Calm, cool and collected, nothing is out of place on Nicky’s watch and she’ll always find a happy solution to every problem.

Tom Ralph

Assistant Marina Manager, H&S Safety Champion

Tom is an ex-seasonaire extraordinaire having spent time abroad teaching with Neilson and PGL. A windsurfing fanatic, you may spot him blasting across the harbour in his spare time.

Lee Meachim

Boat Care Manager

Lee’s job is to get the yard shipshape and Bristol fashion and running like a clipper ship in a blow. Appropriate given his area of expertise is traditional boat building and he has built and restored several wooden boats.

Jack Drummond

Boat Yard Supervisor

Always smiling and often dancing, Jack can be found keeping a close eye on your boat in the yard and manning the hoist. He’s in charge of Christmas and his goal is to get the team to a karaoke bar.

Jack Keane

Boat Care Supervisor

Jack (known as Keano because we can’t cope with two Jack’s!) is only a nipper, but he’s got more sea miles than most of us. An RYA Yachtmaster Ocean at 20, he’s the chap to speak to for voyaging advice!

Haydn Buckingham-Jones

Berthing Master

In a previous life, Haydn was a movie star, now he keeps us all laughing with his quick wit and dodgy jokes. He knows a thing or two about sailing and teaches with Quality Time Training in his spare time.

Liz Rowden

Marina Host

Liz moved to Portland during the summer of 2019 for a change of scenery and career. She has boundless enthusiasm and a welcoming smile for everyone as she effortlessly organises the marina reception. You might find her at the helm of her Westerly or at the end of the lead of an excitable spaniel called Fender!

Will Hick

Berthing Master

Happiest out on the pontoons fixing stuff and keeping everything running like clockwork,  Will's calm and efficient manner gets the job done. After sailing Bart's Bash in 2021 on the marina team, he's decided he prefers power boats!
