Portland

Portland is growing!

Expanding into our second decade

A lot has happened since Portland Marina opened it's breakwaters in 2009 and the first boats tied up alongside their new berths. Three years later, the world watched as Ben Ainslie sailed into the history books with his brilliant performance in the Finn class on the waters of Weymouth Bay, taking the gold medal during the 2012 Olympic Games and introducing Portland as a first class sailing destination.

At the time only two thirds of the planned pontoons were installed, but our big sky marina is becoming ever more popular and our spacious fairways, world class facilities and warm welcome has put us firmly on the chart.

In 2020 we built the walkway for B pontoon and added finger berths for smaller, shallow draft boats and for 2021 we're expanding further with C pontoon going in to give additional 10 and 12m berths, all fully serviced with water and electric points. Work is due to start mid-March with the main walkway for C pier the first piece of the puzzle to be moved into place followed by the installation of the finger berths. Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by the end of April or early May and we're looking forward to being able to relocate our newest berth holders from their temporary berths in the visitors area to their boat's permanent new homes.
