On Saturday 18th June the Haslar Marina crew threw their annual berth holders party, a great opportunity to celebrate being part of the boatfolk community. Spirits were high and the day kicked off with glorious sunshine, although the weather took a turn it didn’t dampen spirits and it was a great day all round.
As well as being a great party the event also raised an incredible £1,850 for some incredible causes.
£925 to The Seahorse Trust, an amazing environmental charity who advocate for the protection of seahorses. The charity shows dedication to protecting seahorse habitats, including precious seagrass meadows which last year culminated in working with boatfolk on the installation of eco-moorings in Studland Bay.
£925 of the funds raised will be given to the Andrew Simpson Foundation, a charity which focuses on giving young people access to life changing opportunities on the water. In addition to fundraising through boatfolk community events, we are also working in partnership with The Andrew Simpson Foundation on #boatgen, an initiative designed to complement their existing great work whilst giving children and teens who have never tried boating before the opportunity to get on the water.
