Safe management at boatfolk marinas

IOSH Managing safely course

As we navigate our way through the Covid-19 pandemic boatfolk are committed to providing a safe, healthy and secure environment for both our customers and our employees. As of March 2021, we are proud to announce that nearly 35% of the boatfolk workforce, including Operations Directors, Marina Managers and Health and Safety Champions, have successfully completed the IOSH Managing Safely course.

The course was delivered virtually across all 11 of our marina sites over the period of one month by Altruisk in conjunction with boatfolks own safety support, Omega Safety UK. It covered fundamentals such as general health and safety and workplace well-being, requiring participants to submit a project focusing on risk recognition and improvement.

As an organisation which continually focuses on best practice, this training has facilitated number of positive outcomes.  Firstly, it has ensured a clear and consistent understanding of boatfolks and its employee’s legal, financial and moral obligations to prioritise health and safety.  Secondly, the training has resulted in the development of a new risk assessment and safe operating procedure structures which will be used to inform further training throughout the organisation.  Therefore, the successful completion of this training enables boatfolk to ensure that safety and health remains at the top of the agenda across all our marinas.
