boatfolk sets sail for a more sustainable future

We've switched to a 100% renewable electricity supply

We're delighted to announce that we have switched to a fully renewable electricity source to reduce our carbon footprint.

This initiative forms part of our wider sustainability strategy to educate and influence behaviours and to make a positive impact on the marine environment and planet.

The renewable electricity will supply more than 4,000 berths spanning across our 11 marinas nation-wide.

Managing Director of boatfolk, Michael Prideaux, comments,

“At boatfolk we are a tightknit community of people who are truly passionate about our environment and want to enjoy it for generations to come.

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, and we know that reducing the impact on the environment is important to boatfolk customers and colleagues. We’re on a journey to reduce our carbon footprint and this is a crucial next step on that journey.

2021 is an important year for the world’s efforts to tackle climate change and choosing to switch to 100% renewable electricity isn't just a 'feel good' thing to do, it's something that has a very real impact. We estimate this fully renewable supply reduces our carbon emissions by up to 1000 tonnes a year compared with traditional carbon led electricity supplies, which is massive positive impact.

At boatfolk, we’re all about creating great places for everyone that wants to be in, on, under or by the water and are thrilled we can now provide a responsibly sourced electricity supply with minimal to no change in cost to our customers, whilst making a step towards becoming carbon neutral.”
