Portland Week 2022

Try paddleboarding in Portland

Fun for the whole family

Join us for a week of messing around in boats!

Portland is an amazing place to get afloat from and we want to shout about it! That's why we're showcasing every which way you can get in, on or under the water from our marina. Seven whole days of fun, frolics and festivities on and off the water.

Try boating for the first (or millionth!) time with a sailing or powerboating taster, give paddleboarding a go, and get the kids involved at our kids club activities. There's truly something for everyone! If that all sounds a bit too exhausting, get your zen on with a SUP yoga session or simply kick back and relax on our waterfront terrace with a cold drink in hand and fantastic view out over the marina and Portland Harbour.

At the end of the week we bring it all together with the boatfolk Folk Boat, an afternoon of music from the decks of our very own tall ship 'Moonfleet' anchored in the middle of the marina. Jump in your dinghy or pump up your paddle board and join us for a floating folk extravaganza, dancing is encouraged but be prepared to get wet!

Portland Week is more than just a jam-packed week of floatable fun though, there's a serious message too. Our seas and marine wildlife are choking on thousands of tons of plastic pollution and we need your help to do something about it so that our watery playground is still there for future generations to enjoy. We've invited a host of experts in various fields to educate us with talks and workshops, we'll be out getting our hands dirty on beach cleans and our eco market will be stocked full of environmentally friendly plastic-free alternatives. We're supporting beach clean warriors Clean Jurassic Coast during the week, raising funds and awareness so they can keep up their great work.

We'll be updating the event details soon, so keep checking back!

Clean Jurassic Coast

Beach clean warrior Roy Beal founded Clean Jurassic Coast at the beginning of 2020 as a way to bring individual beach cleaners together and to create a community that could together cover more area and have a bigger voice. Roy and his growing team of volunteers are tireless and passionate about keeping our stunning coastline free from plastic pollution and clean and safe now and for future generations.

In 2021, Roy completed his epic solo paddle trip from John O'Groats to Lands End in his wooden sea kayak 'Just Add Water' whilst litter picking and beach cleaning along his 963 mile route and fundraising for Keep Britain Tidy and Plan B Charity.

We're proud to support Roy and his team, from raising awareness and funds at Portland Week, partnering on beach cleans with our local students and sourcing an engine for Clean Jurassic Coast's beach clean boat 'Sea-Rex'. We hope you'll join us in supporting them too!
